As part of next year’s 50th anniversary of the Cortina celebrations, we are organising a road run for all Cortinas, to Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

Leaving England on the morning of Saturday 1/9/12, our route will take us southwards through France, first to Riems in the Champagne region. On to Dijon, before heading for Lake Geneva in Switzerland. Then we head eastwards, first to Lake Como in Italy where we will meet up with a group from the MkI Cortina and Ford Owners Club. Continuing east sees us go to Lake Garda before arriving in Cortina on Friday 7/9/12 for 2 or 3 nights.

Our return journey takes us westwards to Davos in Switzerland, and then to Heidleberg in Germany for a visit to the Hockenhiem race track. We move onwards to Nurburg to have the opportunity to drive the Nordschlief, before we go across Belgium via the race track at Spa.  We return to England on Saturday 15/9/12.

The cost (including ferries but not petrol or road tolls) will be approximately £2000 for 2 people sharing for B+B.

Ford Cortina MkII Owners Club

Hi guys

Just thought it was time for a little update on next years Cortinas to Cortina trip - not that there is actually much to be reporting on right now. As you know, we had started contacting hotels but many were coming back to us saying they were already full on the dates we wanted. It didn't take us too long to realise that they thought we were asking about this year rather than next, so we took the decision to postpone that work until we were well past the dates we want. Needless to say, we'll be back on to that job very soon.

There is a fair bit of interest in the trip now that word is getting out in the national press - it looks like we'll be joined en route by a group from Malta! Talking of the national press, Classic Ford have agreed to sponsor us in the form of providing the rally plaques for the front of the cars. Thanks Simon, really appreciate it.

Rumour has it that next years Goodwood Revival will also celebrate 50 years of the Cortina. As a result of dates clashing, we're considering bringing our trip forward by a day or 2 so that anyone that wants to do both, can. If we do this, it will mean us starting the trip on Thursday 30th or Friday 31st of August. Do you have any thoughts or opinions on this? You can e-mail us at: cortinastocortina2012@hotmail.co.uk

Also, don't forget that the owners of buysellcortina have given us our very own area on their forums just for our trip to Italy next year. There are pictures and stories from previous Cortinas to Cortina trips already posted up in our area, as well as other discussions about next years trip, but its a great place for all things Ford Cortina related. If you haven't signed up already, what are you waiting for?
